Life safety and compliance
The records people ask for under pressure
Life safety documentation is requested at the worst possible moments: after an incident, during a survey, or when an insurer is deciding whether to pay. What you can produce in that hour is what you kept on the day.
- Testing records with evidence
- Failures raise corrective work
- Retrievable by asset and date

Programmes
Where the exposure concentrates
Fire doors
Gaps, seals, closers and latching, recorded door by door with photographic evidence and remediation tracked to closure.
Emergency lighting
Monthly function and annual duration testing, with results held as results rather than as a completed checkbox.
Means of egress
Routes clear, signage illuminated, doors opening in the direction of travel, evidenced on a schedule.
Portable extinguishers
Inspection tags, pressure, access and mounting, with the location established by scan.
Generators and fire pumps
Load and churn testing with run times and readings captured as data on the required frequency.
Alarm and suppression systems
Contractor testing records held alongside your own, attached to the asset rather than filed in an inbox.
Contracted testing
The certificate is not the record
Most statutory testing is performed by specialists who leave a certificate behind. A certificate proves a visit occurred. It does not tell you which doors failed, whether they were remediated, or what condition the estate is in today. Running the test as a procedure, even when a contractor performs it, gives you both.
- Contractors work through the same procedure as your own staff
- Certificates attach to the asset as well as to the visit
- Failures become tracked corrective work with owners and dates
- Current status by asset, rather than a folder of past certificates
Being precise about what this does
DFM does not certify anything and does not make an organisation compliant. Standards are set by your authority having jurisdiction, and compliance is judged by people against the programme you run.
What DFM removes are the two failures that turn a sound programme into a bad audit. The first is evidence that exists but cannot be retrieved for a specific asset and date. The second is a finding that was recorded and never closed. Both are filing problems, and both are what this software is for.
Questions people ask
- Can we record testing carried out by an outside contractor?
- Yes. A contracted tester works through the same procedure from a link, and their certificate attaches to the asset as well as to the visit.
- How do we retrieve last year’s testing records?
- By building, asset or date. Every test is a record with its answers, evidence and follow-up work attached.
- Can we see which assets are overdue for statutory testing?
- Yes, by site and by programme. That view is usually the reason estates adopt this first.
