Finish your first inspection

Setup is three steps. Add a building, pick a workflow, and run it on your phone. Here is what each step asks for.

Step 1: Add your building

Five short screens: Details, Type, Size, Confirm, and Done.

  • Details. The building's name and address. Start typing the address and pick it from the list. Then StringBean knows exactly where the building is.
  • Type. Office, Residential, Retail, Industrial, Mixed Use, Mall, Hospital, or Other. This matters more than it looks. StringBean uses the type to suggest workflows in the next step. A hospital gets different suggestions than a shop.
  • Size. Square footage. It helps with reports and planning, and you can skip it for now. Add it later in your building settings.
  • Confirm. One last look before StringBean creates the building.
  • Done. Your building is ready. Go on to pick a workflow, or add another building first.

Floors and rooms come later. You map those out from the Locations page.

Step 2: Pick your workflow

Next you see a short list of ready-made workflows. The best matches for your building type are marked Recommended for you.

Tap Use this on the one you want. That one tap makes it live. There is no separate publishing step.

A few things to know:

  • Only the top picks show at first. Tap Show all to see the rest.
  • If a workflow needs a small fix first, StringBean says so and offers to open the editor.
  • Changed your mind? Come back to this step and pick a different workflow.

You are not stuck with ready-made workflows. From the Workflows page you can build your own. You can also describe what you need in plain words and let StringBean write the first draft.

Step 3: Run it on your phone

Your computer now shows a big QR code. Point your phone's camera at it.

The phone signs itself in. No password, no typing. It opens straight into your workflow. Two tips for this moment:

  • Add it to your home screen. Your phone will offer. Say yes. After that StringBean works like any app, even with no signal. Answers and photos upload when your phone gets signal back.
  • No camera handy? There is a short link next to the QR code. Type it into your phone's browser and sign in there.

Now do the inspection on your phone. Leave the computer alone. The page is watching. When your run finishes and uploads, the computer turns into your report.

Each QR code works once and stops working after a while. If your phone says the code is too old, look at your computer. Click Get a fresh code under the QR. You can also sign in on the phone and land in the same place.

Your first report

When the run lands, you see the report your team gets after every run: the pass rate, what passed, what needs attention, the list of items you checked, and your photos. Download it as a PDF or open the full record.

After your first run

Tap Finish setup and you land on your dashboard. A setup checklist sits at the top. These steps take you from your first run to running everything:

  • Add your first site
  • QR-tag your equipment
  • Invite your team
  • Publish a workflow
  • Schedule recurring work
  • Complete a first run

You have already done several of these, and the checklist knows. It reads your real work and ticks items off on its own.

Grow from here in whichever direction fits. Invite your team so everyone gets the app and their own work. Add the rest of your buildings the same way. Pick up more workflows or build your own. When the checklist stops being useful, hide it. Everything stays in the sidebar.
